Hi! I’m Leah! I created my Love Letters IG account in the summer of 2020, but my love for letters began sooo much earlier than that! I love lettering words that are special to you + those you love! I create signage, invitation suites and custom hand-lettered pieces that are just right for you + yours.
What Led You To Hand Lettering/Signage/Stationary?
I’ve been interested in hand lettering for the last 10 years at least. I was self taught and changed my style as I aged, because I loved cursive and pretty handwriting. When I was 17, I got to attend a calligraphy class with an amazing calligrapher in NWA. I learned some really great fundamentals in her course and that took my lettering to a whole new level!
What Keeps You Passionate About Weddings?
I love working with weddings because I truly am so thankful for marriage and I know it is such a gift from the Lord. While the little details might get old to some, I think I’ll always love writing a husband and wife’s name together because of the way it signifies two becoming one!
How Long Have You Been In The Wedding Stationary Business?
I’ve been addressing wedding envelopes and creating signage for family, friends, and friends of friends for the last 7 years. It’s been a hobby of mine for as long as I can remember! I love a good celebration and pretty things, so weddings have naturally always been a personal favorite!
What Should Couples Know Before Hiring Someone For Their Stationary/Signage/Hand Lettering?
I think couples should consider having artists create cohesive elements of signage and lettering throughout their entire wedding design. This can be small- from coordinating the fonts invitation suite and a thank you note to the guests at the dinner table for celebrating alongside you both! To me, that really illuminates that sweet picture of unity that a marriage is all about! Think about songs or sweet things you two love that you could incorporate to make your special day all about you two.
Outside Of Your Business Tell Us About Yourself!
Aside from loving letters, I am a wife of almost 4 years to the most amazing husband and a soon-to-be momma of our precious little girl, Kate Austyn, arriving in April. We are so excited to see what the Lord is going to teach us in our next season of being parents! I am also in a full time graduate program where I am pursing a doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy. I may be bias, but it is one of the most amazing professions that values human life and what each person loves to do by providing various supports in such a unique way! I’ll always have a place in my heart and room in my schedule for some pretty letters, though.
What Is Your Best Piece Of Advice For Couples Planning A Wedding?
My best piece of advice for couples planning their wedding is to remember that the big day is so much more than the most perfect day of your dreams. Spend as much time preparing your hearts for one of the biggest commitments and joys of your lifetime- MARRIAGE! Don’t let yourself stress over the small things and be sure to enjoy every second!
